I remember that one summer, I decided that I would take three months off from my normal job, and try picking grapes and wine tasting. There was no logical reason behind this, other than I really felt that it was something that I wanted to do. I travelled to Keffalonia, which is one of the Greek Ionian islands, and got in contact with a small boutique winery there that I had seen some years before on a wine tasting trip. They were more than happy to employ me during the harvest season, and I had the most wonderful time picking grapes out in the sun, and meeting all manner of people from different walks of life. I even picked grapes with nuns from a nunnery one day!
The best part though, was tasting the wine itself. Those memories are still vivid to this day, and I would suggest to anyone, of any age to try something like this.
